Taking away PvE-only skills while linking PvP and PvE is merely someone being spiteful from the PvP side of the house. They just need to implement them in another way than grind (skills that get better with missions/quests solved - a questline to unlock a PvE-only skill, etc etc).
One solution that's been suggested is to have a PvE and PvP version of each skill. This does make the balancing more complex at first glance, but on the other hand it means the skill balance guys don't need to worry so much about the effect on one side of the game when making balances for the other - so you don't get skills or entire professions *coughcoughMesmercoughcough* nerfed to oblivion in PvE to keep them under control in PvP.

That said, I don't think that would completely eliminate rebalancing in PvE - games like Diablo had it, after all, and PvE would benefit from having the cookie cutters pared down so you at least have a variety of effective builds per profession rather than one or two. However, it would mean that the rebalancing that occurs in PvE would be being done for the good of PvE rather than being baggage coming from PvP.

I'll tell you want I WANT in GW2.

A fully open world where PvP can happen at any time and in any place (including towns, and even at the character generation screen). No level cap. No rules, but a good story nonetheless. I hate the item system in GW, bring on an item system like in Diablo II, where gear is EVERYTHING. I'm not being ironic either. If somebody knows of a mmo like this please let me know. I tried WoW, but I didn't like that you could only gank in certain areas.

I want unique armor to drop in GW2 and be phat and some of the best only drops from the hardest bosses and areas at the end of the game or past it.

I don't want cheap stat loot any longer, it has become boring and there's nothing worth going adventuring for anymore.

I want a huge world to explore with unlimited loot and stats stuff

And don't say go play WoW or EQ I want this to be in GW2

I'd play Diablo 2 but the world is just too small what we need is a Diablo 2 world the size of GW with all kinds of neat phat loot to find and upgrade

Now your talking. That is exactly what I want GW2 to be. I still play Diablo II but I'm fed up with the 2d graphics. Guild wars would be incredible if it had a similar loot system, no level cap (or at least higher). It sucks that presently, all characters are exactly the same in PVP. You can talk all you want about how its all skill in Guild Wars, but I don't believe it is. Also, I want it to be an totally open world with no rules. You can gank at any time and get ganked at any time.

Why not and why, respectively?

Guild Wars was Guild Wars precisely because it was the complete opposite of what you're asking for. What you want is WoW without a subscription fee... and maybe set in the Guild Wars world.

I'm not overly fond of mini-pets... I suppose for me they are an addition that just made GW all about "phat lewt".

I know and even understand that people like to be able to flaunt their riches, but I'm more for it being in the form of armour and weapons - than in mini-pets. Replace mini-pets with useless town clothes or somthing...

For me mini-pets really does strip GW of any immersive qualities it has.

Exactly, a WoW without a subscription fee, but, with GW graphics. WoW graphics suck. I started out with carrot in front of the horse game Everquest and I enjoyed it until there was nobody left to play with or group with in the older areas. Everquest was never SOLO friendly though like GW is. So, what I want is a SOLO friendly WoWlike GW world. Them taking heroes away from us is gonna kill the fun for a lot of us also. I don't even like the sound of this "companion" bs. I want my dedicated heroes I can outfit and deck out in powerful gear and go stomping through the zones looking for the all elusive next piece of POWERFUL gear to wear or put on my hereos. GW is so boring without anything of power to upgrade to. I can't get into VANITY FAIR type stuff. That's girly stuff when you play for VANITY.

Um... ok, while I don't think this is necessarily a bad idea I don't think Guild Wars is the game to do it. The reason for this is that it promotes sinking many hours into the game to find the stuff you want etc. I hate to say wait for Diablo 3, but facing facts, you're probably going to have to.

Regarding PvP, there are plenty of other games where gear will have an impact in PvP - I don't think it's unfair for GW/GW2 to be different there. The aim is for the better players to win, not the better-geared players to win, and that makes it more competitive. This is ... really, the whole point of GW.

And "ganking" people in PvE actually pisses a lot of people off. Again, it's not unfair for them to get immunity for that, because the majority of people there aren't even interested in fighting other players. That's what PvP is for.

(On the other hand, you WILL be seeing World PvP - which by the sound of it might be more like what you're looking for.)

I counted four yes/no dialogs in a row trying to get into Arborstone. And actually, most of the Factions sequences are the same length, really.

lol

I agree with this one, one confirmation is plenty, 2? 3? f*cking excessive.
But there are plenty of handitarts playing guild wars, some of them might actually accidentally click on something 3 times. Best to be sure.

Default I dont want to see

A title system that contributes to elitism, rank discrimination, title discrimination, or whatever you want to call it.

Eliminate the grind in general, make the game something that people play because it is fun, not because they want to feel like they achive something by grinding doing the same thing over and over again for some stupid title.

go back to the original idea of a mmorpg that does not require or reward thousands of hours of grinding over skill in BOTH the pve and pvp worlds and GW2 will be great imo.

Sadly, that wish will NEVER be granted for any game.
